Physical Education Activities at RES
Fundamental Movement:
- Locomotor skills such as running, skipping, hopping, jumping, galloping, leaping, sliding, etc
- Non-Locomotor skills such as bending, stretching, twisting, balancing, rolling, dodging, etc
- Manipulative skills such as throwing, catching, trapping, kicking, striking, bouncing, rolling, etc.
Movement Activities
- Individual, Partner, Small & Large Groups using: Assorted balls, bean bags, gymnastics apparatus, hoops, music, parachutes, ropes, scarves, scooters, etc
- Body management activities
- Low organized games
Sports Related Activities:
Baseball Lacrosse
Basketball Soccer
Floor Hockey Tennis
Flag Football Track
Gymnastics Volleyball
Guidelines for Safety and Participation
Wear sneakers to all PE classes
Dress appropriately for PE class:
- No heavy clothing
- No hanging jewelry
Be respectful to others:
- USE PUT-UPS AND NOT PUT-DOWNS
- HANDS-OFF POLICY
- DISPLAY GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP
Act responsibly when using PE equipment
- Listen
- Follow directions and safety precautions

Games are just games and should be played to enjoy. Our emphasis at RES is on providing a safe environment in which your child will participate maximally and achieve his or her personal best. We are all different and achieve at different levels.

Mrs. Collentine, Mrs. Emerito and Mrs. Mikolajczyk are excited to begin the 2006-2007 school year! Our goal in Physical Education is to teach fundamental movement through a variety of game forms. We look forward to a wonderful year!
A physically educated person at RES should:
- Feel good about themselves and his/her ability to participate
- Know about safety in an activity
- Feel good about activity
- Have a movement vocabulary and an understanding of movement
- Be knowledgeable about most sports skills activities
- Know about physical fitness
Physical Fitness at RES
Physical Fitness has always and continues to be an integral part of our program. Activities that your children participate in include the development of the various components of Physical Fitness:
- Abdominal Strength
- Cardio Respiratory Efficiency
- Endurance
- Upper Body Strength
Cross Country Ski Program
During the months of December-February, we offer cross-country skiing as part of our Physical Education program to all 3rd and 4th Grade students. We supply all ski equipment and classes are conducted on our school grounds.
Cooperative Activities
At RES, we offer our students a wide variety of Cooperative Activities throughout the school year. Working together to achieve a common goal encourages positive social interaction and promotes important behaviors such as trust, acceptance, helping others, and sharing.
Physical Education Facilities
Gymnasium
- Used for fundamental movement activities, low organized games and sports related activities.
Exercise Room
- Used for gymnastics and tumbling activities as well as fundamental movement and body management activities.
