This site provides extensive opportunities for you to
search relevant topics related to your child’s education.
We recommend that you click on the button called “About
ParentSmart” to begin your visit on this site.
www.kidinfo.com:
This site refers to itself as the “BEST Homework and
student/Teacher/Parent Reference Resource.”
Before you delve into the site, we suggest that you scroll
to the bottom of the home page and read the section, “Learn more
about: Kid Info...”
www.kidsource.com:
Parents developed this website with the purpose of making a
“positive and lasting difference in the lives of parents and
children.” Be sure to click on the “About Us” button at the bottom
of the home page before entering the site.
Then look for the pull down menu at the top of the page,
entitled, “Explore the Site” and click on K-12 for some
excellent articles on a variety of educational topics.

Clicking on this site brings you into Kid’s Wave, a site
that gives you a list of safe places for your children to go on
line. Check out
the categories on the first page and go from there.
www.smarterkids.com:
This site is a commercial venture with shopping
opportunities, but it also wants to give parents helpful advice.
When you hit the home page, click on Family Resource Center
at the top, then on Education, and then look for “44 Tips for
School Success” currently in the lower right column of the page.
www.geniefind.com:
This is another .com site, but one that has a several helpful
articles for parents that are free for the taking.
Genie Find Kids claims to be "a human edited, safe
search engine and directory for kids.”
www.useekufind.com:
This looks like a web site with a point of view, so enter it with
that in mind. However,
if you click on Family/ School located on the home page, you will
find many interesting sites to help you as a parent.
This is worth a look.

for parents.
www.state.ct.us/sde:
This is the state department home page for Connecticut.
We bring you to certain pages of this site in other parts
of the Web site, but this home page gives you buttons for all
areas of interest related to education in Connecticut.
There are several buttons that speak specifically to the
family and to parents.
www.crec.org:
This web site is managed by the Capitol Region Education
Council that is located in the Hartford metropolitan area.
Click on “The Capitol Region Educator’s Portal” on
the home page and then examine your options in the “Parent”
section of the portal.
www.iconn.org:
This is a wonderful site co-sponsored by the Connecticut State
Library and the Department of Higher Education.
You can access the databases on this site by entering your
active library card from any Connecticut library.
This site is great for research on many questions that you
may have as a parent or that your children may have as inquisitive
students. Click on
the button called, “Resources for Schools.”
To access from home or office, you must enter your
Connecticut library card bar code number.

This site provides study skills information for reading,
