Assignment: As we have been studying the topic of Environmental Health we have learned about the many different environmental concerns that are taking place today. This project is a culmination of our unit and will allow each student to conduct in depth research about a specific Environmental Health topic. Each group will be designated a specific Environmental Health topic and create a presentation that will later be presented and shared with the class.

The Topics Include:

  • Global Warming-

  • Green House Effect-

  • Acid Rain-

  • Water Pollution-

  • Car Emissions-

  • Air Pollution-

  • Noise Pollution-

  • Nuclear Energy-

  • Bio Diesel Fuels-


National Standard 3: Students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors to reduce health risks.

Performance Indictors:

  • Explain the importance of assuming responsibility for personal health behaviors

  • Demonstrate strategies to improve or maintain personal and family health.

Objectives:

·     Explain the importance of each person assuming responsibility for their own actions as a member of a community.

Core Concepts focused on:

  • Accessing information

  • Analyzing Fluencies

  • Advocacy

This project must be created in conjunction with your partner. The Presentation needs to be between 5-7 minutes long.

Information that needs to be incorporated in the project includes:

1.)  Describe topic of environmental health that you are covering.

2.)  Is your topic impacting our environment in a negative or positive way?

3.What is the view and stand on this topic today based upon what you have learned and the research you have conducted?

4.)  Two additional interesting facts or pieces of information about your specific topic that can incorporate into your presentation.

Grading Rubric for 8th Grade Environmental Health Project

Time: Length of presentation ( 5-7 minutes long ) ____/10

Content: Each question was answered in detail and topic was described and discussed thoroughly. _____/60
