Mrs. G’s Tips for Success
- Select an amendment that is interesting to
you and one that is relevant in today’s world (1-8, avoid 3). If you are unable to
find a variety of sources after a day of research see Mrs. G to
switch your amendment.
- You must have research notes
taken in your own hand with the Works Cited information at the
top of the page.
- Follow Writing Style Manual for research
techniques , keep track of all of your references for your works
cited sheet.
- The purpose of your essay is to analyze an
amendment by explaining how it is used in the world today.
- Your essay should be two pages typed,
double spaced and following the requirements in the manual of style.
- Begin your paper with a quote from the
Constitution followed by your interpretation of the amendment.
- Provide three well explained examples of
the amendment’s importance today. I suggest court cases that you can
describe and link to the amendment. ( Do not just mention a case by
name ) Try to include some interesting examples of the application
of the legal aspects of the amendment.
- Conclude with your strong stand on the
amendment’s importance today. Be certain to link your stand with your
three examples to convince your reader of the amendment’s
importance. Your persuasive conclusion is The HEART OF YOUR PAPER!!!
- On the due date you must submit – notes in
your hand, graphic organizer, Your paper and works cited. Be certain
to print two copies of your paper, one for use for an oral
presentation and one for me as I will keep the one you submit
to me.
