TASK DEFINITION The Question:
Compare cell structures and functions with other systems.
  Requirements:
Define question:
What are the cell structures and functions?
Cell wall, Cell membrane, Nucleus, Nuclear membrane, Chromosomes, Nucleolus, Cytoplasm, Endoplasmic reticulum, Ribosomes, Mitochondria, Vacuoles, Lysosomes, Chloroplasts

Define "system".
Research cell parts to find each part's structure and function.
Research your selected system for comparison purposes.

3-D model of cell and system
Oral comparison of the cell structure and function with selected system
Due date:  February 7, 2006

Cells Alive:  Plant, Animal and Bacteria Cell Models.  Read the text.  Then click on both Plant Cell and Animal Cell.  Pay close attention to the size and shape of the cell parts.  Brainstorm some everyday materials you could use to make a 3-D model of a plant or animal cell.

Textbook

HKMS resources:
     Follett card catalog
     Print collection
Use of Information Read and/or view information

Take notes on structure and function for each cell part listed.

Paraphrase and summarize the structure and function of each cell part.
Synthesis: Process:
Organize material logically to support central question.

Create 2 3-D models side by side comparing the cell and your selected system

Presentation:
Two 3-D models

Oral presentation:

Reflects audience (communication)
Uses appropriate medium

Demonstrates understanding of cell's structure and function as it relates to your selected system

Compares systems
Evaluation: What is a good presentation?

Rubric

If I were to do this again, how would I improve upon it?

Do my 3-D models compare the cell functions and structures with another system?
