CREATE A
ROMAN CHARACTER

Parent Letter

May 1, 2008

Dear Students and Parents of Sixth Graders:

During the next month, our students will be involved in an interdisciplinary unit entitled The Classical Age.   The purpose of interdisciplinary instruction is to help students make connections among various subject areas.

Listed below are some sample activities from several subject areas:

·         Language Arts- acquire and apply research and note-taking skills to create a Roman character

·         Reading- explore a variety of  Roman cultures through literature

·         Social Studies- understand Roman history and  their modern influences

Students will receive instruction and class time to complete the research project in Language Arts.  Each student has a packet, which describes the project and establishes deadlines.  Please review this information carefully, and sign the tear-off below.  It should be returned during Reading and Language Arts.

Sincerely,

Ms. Sarah Broas
