Movie Pitch
Your task: Make a pitch to
Hollywood producers for your film version of Shane. The pitch should
be no more than 5 minutes in length. Check off the bullets as you
consider the following:
How faithful will you be
to the original?
Where will it be set?
When? Will you be true to the period or modernize it? Will you
choose a new setting that highlights some of the themes and
ideas in a different setting?
Who will star as the main
characters? (make a list of the important traits for each of
your main characters, then select a well-known actor who can
portray these successfully.)
What will be some of the
highlights of the movie?
What will the opening
sequence/scene be? (are there any symbolic items/scenes that you
would want to feature in the opening sequence?)
What music might be used
on the soundtrack?
Who’s point of view will
tell the story? (the novel was told from Bob’s point of view)
What "big" themes will
you focus on? "This will be a movie/story about . . . "
