Movie Pitch

Your task: Make a pitch to Hollywood producers for your film version of Shane. The pitch should be no more than 5 minutes in length. Check off the bullets as you consider the following:

  • How faithful will you be to the original?
  • Where will it be set? When? Will you be true to the period or modernize it? Will you choose a new setting that highlights some of the themes and ideas in a different setting?
  • Who will star as the main characters? (make a list of the important traits for each of your main characters, then select a well-known actor who can portray these successfully.)
  • What will be some of the highlights of the movie?
  • What will the opening sequence/scene be? (are there any symbolic items/scenes that you would want to feature in the opening sequence?)
  • What music might be used on the soundtrack?
  • Who’s point of view will tell the story? (the novel was told from Bob’s point of view)
  • What "big" themes will you focus on? "This will be a movie/story about . . . "
  • Use this paper to gather your ideas.
