Mock Conference
United Nations-Millennium Goal Campaign
Latin American Nations
Guidelines for country research and creation of group proposals
Step One
Complete preliminary research using
CultureGrams database. Use the country homepage and
additional links on the left hand of the page to familiarize
yourself with the country. Each person in the groups will complete a
country data sheet.
Step Two
Now that you are somewhat familiar
with your Latin American country, it is time to discuss current
issues of concern facing the country you represent. What topics are
worthy of further research and consideration?
As a team you will use iCONN
library database to search for current articles in preparation for
your proposal.
Step Three
Complete Research: your group
should access 4 articles (depending on their length and depth- you
may need fewer). You need enough information to fully support a
complete proposal.
The purpose of United Nations
Millennium Goals Campaign Conference is for ambassadors of all
the Americas to meet and address issues that concern them in hopes
those solutions can be cooperatively found. In order to achieve this
purpose, you must write a resolution which you will read and defend
at the Conference. Resolutions should be written with one of the 8
Millennium goals as its focus.
You will have to read your
resolution to the other ambassadors and respond to their questions.
The committee will consider all resolutions, and each member will
cast a vote for the country they believe made the most persuasive
appeal.
