Peer
Leadership Program Advisor: Mrs.
Thomas
This program
will involve students in training as peer leaders. Using a substance
abuse prevention model, the program will train students to interact with
their peers in conflict resolution. Guidance and leadership in areas of
prevention of drug abuse, multi-cultural experiences and stress
management will be developed. The program is contingent upon the award
of competitive grant monies from the Federal Government.
Eligibility:
8-10 Eighth grade students
8-10 Seventh grade students
8-10 Sixth grade students
8-10 Fifth grade students
Students must
demonstrate a commitment to their peers and a willingness to promote a
drug-free life style.

Hopkins Talent Search Program Mrs. Thomas
Center for
the Advancement of Academically Talented Youth (CTY)
CTY offers a
Talent Search which identifies exceptional mathematical and/or verbal
reasoning abilities among young students in the seventh grade and eighth
grade.
CTY is a nationally and
internationally recognized resource center which works with those highly
able students and their parents, teachers, and school administrators in
providing appropriate educational programs.
