Grade 8

Sample of Student Work
Assessment Steps Student Checklist

Task:

Convince prospective investors that you really can make it as a star.

Your group wants to form a performance group (music or dance) and travel across the U.S.A.   You will use Word, Excel, Photoshop Elements, a Digital Camera, PowerPoint, and Publisher to complete this project.  Your final product will be two-fold:  (1) a PowerPoint presentation to show to prospective investors and (2) a brochure suitable for a hand-out highlighting your group's strengths.

Very Important Information:
You
are very fortunate that your parents have decided to sponsor your tour.  You will be traveling by a bus paid for by your parents.  They will also be paying the bus driver and his expenses but you will have to pay for the gas.

Fixed Expenses:

  • Food - $250 a day

  • Hotel – $1,000 a night

  • Gas  – 8 miles per gallon

  • Stadium Rent – ¼ of the ticket sales

  • Promoter Fees– ¼ of the ticket sales, CDs, T-shirts and Bumper Stickers

Income:

  • Ticket Sales - $40 a seat (you are so good that you are confident you will sell out every performance!)

  • CD Sales - $15 a CD (1/3 of those in attendance will buy them)

  • T-Shirt Sales - $10 (1/3 of those in attendance will buy them)

  • Bumper Stickers - $5 (1/3 of those in attendance will buy them)
