Purpose:
Students will include language in their study of Native American culture, enriching their school experience and their understanding of Native American tribes and nations as complete and continuous cultures.

Task: Students will create a "phrasebook" for their tribe or nation.

Requirements:

  • Each group (3-4) will create a booklet of phrases or words used by their indigenous tribe or nation.
  • Suggested topics are food, family, shelter, ceremony, nature, tools.
  • Each phrasebook is to be illustrated and decorated with appropriate motifs.
