Open Inspiration Program

• Under the File Menu select Page Setup

• Select Landscape

 Step One = Enter Data

• In the main topic, figure type the word Islam

• Use rapid fire feature to create a web diagram including the terms below

• Enter the term first, then create a second figure with the definition or description

Allah: Arabic word for God

Ka’ bah: Holiest shrine of the Islamic Religion

Mecca: Center of Islamic faith

Mosque: Islamic house of worship

Muhammad: Prophet and founder of the Islamic religion

Muslims: Followers of Islam

Quran: Book of Muslim scriptures

Pillars of Faith

• Description: Five duties all Muslims must fulfill (rapid fire five pillars, one figure for each)

  1. Public announcement of faith

  2. Prayer Fives times a day facing Mecca

  3. Charity

  4. Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan

  5. Pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lifetime

Once all the information has been entered you need to Arrange your diagram into a Top-Down Tree formation

Select the Arrange icon, Under the Diagram type select Top-down tree button

Make sure the Auto-90 is selected in the box labeled Link, Then click ok

(You can also us the tools to complete a spell check, but be careful)

Step Two = Format 

• Font

• Color scheme

• Shape

â ââDo not spend too much time on this task as you will need to input 6 images

Step Three = Entering Graphics

You will enter 6 Images into your Islamic web by completing the following steps

 For example

• Click on the figure labeled with the term Mosque

• Right click on the mouse and select the option: insert graphic

• Find images under Student Work - Grade 6 - World History-Mrs. Rose - Islam.

• Select appropriate image of a Mosque

• Select Open

• Image will appear in your web

• Resize the image to an appropriate size

• Your web should fit on one page only

• Insert graphics for the following terms

  1. Mosque

  2. Mecca (map choose 1)

  3. Pillars of faith (one choice only)

  4. Allah (choose one in the Arabic style)

  5. Quran

  6. Ka’bah

Step Four = ARRANGE AND SAVE

• Once this step is complete you will want to Arrange your web one more time (see above)

• From the file menu select Print Preview to view your diagram

• Make changes if there is time remaining

• Save file as: ISLAM_Your Last Name    EX. ISLAM_Rose

 ******Save under your name in Social Studies folder ******
