CORE DESCRIPTION

Students will:

1. work in groups
2. create a web in Inspiration
3. create a double-sided pamphlet using Microsoft Publisher promoting factors influencing health
4. make an oral presentation  convincing the audience to reduce controllable health factors

1. comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention associated with factors that influence their health. (Standard #1)
2. demonstrate the ability to advocate for personal, family and community health through the creation of a pamphlet (Standard #7)

Language Arts:

1. Reading and Responding:  Students read, comprehend  and respond in individual, literal, critical and evaluative ways to literary, informational and persuasive texts in both print and multimedia formats.

2. Exploring and Responding to Literature:  Students read and respond to classical and contemporary texts from many cultures and literary periods.

3.Communicating with Others:  Students produce written, oral and visual texts to express, develop and substantiate ideas and experiences.

4. English Language Conventions:  Students apply the conventions of Standard English in oral and written communication.

1. log onto notebooks using the proper log-in information
2. save work in specifically designated locations on the Network (Student Work folder)
3. use teacher-selected websites to locate information on their specific topic
4. conduct additional research using the Internet for the specific assignment
5. create a web in Inspiration to organize their information
6. use features of Inspiration to enhance their web
7. use Microsoft Publisher to create a 6-sided pamphlet
8. use features of Microsoft Publisher to enhance the pamphlet, including but not limited to artwork, font size and color, and layout
9. select the correct printer for printing double-sided pamphlet
