A. Background:
  • You are a scientist hired by the Museum of Natural history to study the mummification process of Ancient Egyptians. You are to conduct an experiment to determine which substances best dehydrate a "body." You will present your findings in a lab report.
  • B. Task:

  • You will explore which substances will best dehydrate a "body" in preparation for mummification. In this case, we will use apples as "bodies."
  • C. Purpose:

  • To demonstrate their knowledge of skills in the science laboratory.
  • To record data using metric measurements
  • To analyze the data to determine which substances best dehydrate an apple.
  • To present their findings in the form of a lab report.
  • A. Procedures:
    • Read the Lab: Ancient Egypt Mummification.
    • Set up materials.
    • Conduct the experiment.
    • Observe and record the data for the specified number of days.
    • Analyze the data.
    • Complete the lab report.
